Smudge the kitten

"My name is Smudge and I’m about 10 weeks old. They tell me I’m a stinker, but really I’m a feline acrobat. I don’t get into things. I just very gracefully and creatively explore things around here. I got my name because of the little gray spot on my head. At first I thought I had gotten a little dirty, but after many, MANY baths, it didn’t come off.
"Attention is the one thing I enjoy more than anything! And, if you try to ignore me, I know how to get your attention. I use my acrobatic skills to climb up your leg and land perfectly into your loving arms. I’ve also learned how to use my acrobat skills to get a better view of the world. You see, I climb into the window sills and peep through the curtains. It sure is a big place out there! But, I’m tiny, so I really don’t need a lot of space at your house. All I need is a spot at the foot of your bed and a little place on your lap and a great big place in your heart. Oh, and I’d look like a shining angel under your Christmas tree.
"Please help save lives by spaying/neutering your pets. Take advantage of the discounted spay/neuter program at the A.C.A.C.A.C. To help reduce the unwanted and homeless pet population, always adopt your pets from the animal shelter and encourage others to so too. You will save a life, just like mine!"
The shelter has many adorable, adoptable homeless pets just like Smudge who are searching for loving families to take them home. Meet them by visiting www.alexandercountync.gov/pet or the Alexander County Animal Care & Adoption Center off Highway 16 N. near the National Guard Armory, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed from 12 p.m.–1 p.m. for lunch). Phone 828-632-1199.

Dear Judy, Thank you for giving us an update on your kittens. We always want to hear the happy ending stories about pets adopted from the animal shelter. Most importantly, thank you for adopting from the shelter and helping to save lives. Please encourage others to adopt from the local shelter. We have many wonderful homeless pets who are waiting for a chance to know a loving home.

I wanted to update the good folks at ACACAC about the 2 kitties I adopted just before Christmas. One is a kitten, originally named Winnie, now called Ginger. She has been a real joy. Her motor is always running (purrrrr) and she is very loving, although curious about EVERYTHING! When I took her to be spayed, the vet discovered she had already been spayed! Patty is the 11 yr old that came home with Ginger. It has taken awhile for Patty to feel "safe" but she now purrs also and lets me scratch her head and neck. I keep telling her she is now in her "forever" home, and I think she is beginning to believe me. Thank you for the great job you all do for our 4 legged friends.
