THE TOWN OF TAYLORSVILLE
FAIR HOUSING NOTICE
    Recipients of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME funds must implement activities to affirmatively further fair housing.  Alexander County and the Town of Taylorsville will undertake a number of activities and thereby comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Fair Housing Act of 1968 and the NC State Fair Housing Act to affirmatively further fair housing in a manner described in the County's and Town’s Plans to Affirmatively Further Fair Housing.
    The North Carolina Department of Commerce also requires local governments that operate CDBG and HOME projects to implement a method of receiving and resolving complaints as a result of violations of Title VI.
    Alexander County and the Town of Taylorsville would like to inform it citizens that both Offices of the County Manager and the Town Manager will receive and work to resolve fair housing complaints.  Furthermore, this effort will extend to all persons, agencies or businesses in the County.  All persons with complaints should contact either Rick French, County Manager, at 828-632-9332 (TDD #1-800-735-2962) or David Odom, Town Manager, at 828-632-2218 (TDD# 1-800-735-2962 or 711).

    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to G.S. 163-33(8), that the registration books will close on Friday, October 10, 2014, for the General Election to be held in Alexander County on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.  The following will be submitted to the qualified voters of the county.
    US Senate, US House of Representatives District 5, NC State Senate District 42, NC House of Representatives District 73, Board of County Commissioners, Clerk of Superior Court, Register of Deeds, Sheriff; Non-Partisan – NC Supreme Court Chief Justice, NC Supreme Court Associate Justice; NC Court of Appeals Judge, NC District Court Judge District 22A, School Board District 1, School Board District 2, School Board District 4, Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor, Constitutional Amendment.
    Requirements for voter registration are to be 18 years of age on or before the day of the General Election in that year (November 4, 2014) and to have 30 days of residency in the county and precinct by the date of the election.  Residents of the county who are not registered to vote must do so by Friday, October 10, 2014 at 5:00 pm.  Residents may register at the office of the Board of Elections Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm.  Persons may register at the DMV Office while obtaining or changing information on a driver’s license.  
    Photo Identification will be required to vote in person beginning in 2016.
