According to unofficial results posted by the Alexander County Board of Elections staff, Democratic and Republican parties have nominated candidates for two Alexander County Commissioner seats up for grabs this November following the
May 6 primary election.

Though Alexander County resident Dwight Shook carried his home county as well as that of Watauga, where opponent Jerry Butler resides, Shook was unable to seize the Republican nomination for the N.C. 45th Senate seat.

Though Senator Hillary Clinton won Alexander County with 3,356 votes (73.0 percent) compared to Sen. Barack Obama’s 1090 votes (23.7 percent), Clinton lost the nomination statewide, according to unofficial results.
