United Way reverse drawings set for Aug. 2 |
|
| United Way of Alexander County Board of Directors will be selling 1,000 tickets for this year’s fundraiser. Ticket donations of $5.00 will run from May 1 – July 31, 2008. The reverse drawings will take place on Saturday, August 2, at the United Way “Goes to the Dogs” Bark in the Park kickoff at Matheson Park. |

Confederate Memorial Day is May 10 |

The local camps of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and Order of the Confederate Rose will observe Confederate Memorial Day on Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. at the Alexander County Courthouse in Taylorsville. Over 1,000 men and boys from Alexander served in the Confederate States Army; however, approximately 380 of these never returned home. |
